Towards the Wide Adoption of shallow Geothermal Energy systems in Cyprus (WAGES)

#

The project, WAGEs, aims to contribute to the advancement and wider adoption of SGE in the market of Cyprus, through the expansion of the current infrastructure in the premises of the Cyprus University of Technology, and making the equipment and relevant knowledge easily available and accessible for industrial use, as well as scientific information (including cost and environment-related) diffusion. Furthermore, as SGE provides both heating and cooling in buildings in an efficient way with the use of Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs), its application through WAGEs, which will effectively enable the collaboration between SMEs and the academic and research community, will: (i) Provide tools and equipment for the industry; (ii) Achieve increased energy efficiency –and therefore lower the energy demand– and RES use in the heating and cooling of buildings; (iii) Increased knowledge and experience on SGE technologies for Universities, Public authorities and Private Enterprises, allowing them to compete and co-operate with relevant entities elsewhere in the EU.

This WAGES is supported in part by the Research and Innovation Foundation in Cyprus under the grant: SMALL SCALE INFRASTRUCTURES/1222/0234.

Lumoscribe plays a key role in the project by contributing both technically and strategically. The company is actively involved in project coordination, communication, and dissemination activities, including managing the project’s online presence and representing the consortium at international events. Lumoscribe also contributes to the design and implementation of innovative sensing technologies using optical fibres, leading efforts in system monitoring, data acquisition, and experimental validation. Additionally, the company supports infrastructure development, open access policy planning, and long-term sustainability strategies. Its involvement extends to data-driven simulations and environmental impact assessments, providing valuable input to the project’s research and decision-making processes.
