Software Engineer (Product Development)
📍 Paphos, Cyprus | Full-time | On-site / Hybrid
💼 Fixed-term contract: 1 year with a 6-month probation period, renewable for up to two additional years.

Lumoscribe® is a Cyprus-based deep-tech SME specializing in advanced optical fiber technologies, including fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs), specialty fiber sensors, and novel photonic systems for sensing and laser applications.
We develop proprietary photonic components and integrated systems that serve research institutions, industrial partners, and high-performance sensing markets worldwide.
As we expand our product portfolio, we are launching a new software-driven platform to support the commercialization of our next-generation photonic systems.
THE ROLE
We are seeking a Software Engineer (Product Development) to develop and maintain a commercial-grade control and monitoring software supporting Lumoscribe’s optical sensing systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a robust, scalable, and user-ready software system that will become a core commercial product of the company. The position involves close collaboration with photonics researchers and engineers, receiving technical guidance while contributing to the translation of advanced sensing technologies into robust commercial products.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Design and develop the architecture of the software system
- Implement signal processing, data acquisition, and visualization modules
- Develop user interfaces
- Integrate hardware interfaces (e.g., DAQ systems, spectrometers, embedded platforms)
- Ensure performance, stability, and scalability
- Maintain documentation and version control
- Contribute to product evolution and feature development
THE IDEAL CANDIDATES
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Strong programming skills (Python required; experience with Golang or similar is an advantage)
- Experience with data processing
- Experience in UI development for Windows, macOS or Android platforms
- Understanding of software architecture and clean code practices
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in hardware interfacing or instrumentation control
- Experience in scientific/engineering software
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, device communication, IP routing, or similar)
- Experience in photonics or optical systems (not mandatory)
